AMHERST — Most of the 13 seats on the Amherst Town Council will be decided on election day on Nov. 4, with contests likely for all three at-large positions and eight of the 10 precinct positions.

With Tuesday’s deadline to submit nomination papers, incumbents Mandi Jo Hanneke and Ellisha May Walker are seeking reelection, with the challengers being Andrew Churchill, Allegra Clark and Dillon Maxfield.

In District 1, both incumbents, Ndfreke Ette and Cathy Schoen will seek reelection, with Jill Brevik, Lou Conover and Vincent O’Connor also running.

Three candidates are running in District 2. They are incumbent Lynn Griesemer, along with Amber Cano-Martin and Jason Michael Dorney.

District 3 will have the same field as two years ago, with incumbents Heather Hala Lord and George Ryan running against Patrick Drumm.

A final contest is in District 4, where incumbents Pamela Rooney and Jennifer Taub of are being challenged by Maxfield, who is also in the race for an at-large seat. He will have to decide by Oct. 2 which office to pursue.

In District 5, incumbent Ana Devlin Gauthier and Samuel MacLeod will win the positions, unless challenged by a write-in candidate.

For School Committee, all townwide seats, seven residents are running for five seats, with incumbents Bridget Hynes, Deb Leonard and Sarah Marshall seeking reelection, with challengers Esther Azur, Andrew W. Hart and Laura Jane Hunter, as well as Clark, who is also competing for an at-large Town Council seat.

Should Clark run for and win both positions, she would have to relinquish one of them.

There are no contests for Jones Library trustees, where the six incumbents are seeking reelection, Amherst Housing Authority or Elector under the Oliver Smith Will.
