HADLEY — Asparagus Days, bringing together food and craft vendors, musicians and various children’s activities, is set for this weekend at the North Hadley Sugar Shack, 181 River Drive.

A few months after New England Public Media announced that it would no longer produce the NEPM Asparagus Festival, put on for more than a decade from the West Street common, Sugar Shack owners Shelly and Joe Boisvert are organizing the new event.

Asparagus Days takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

While there will be a focus on various asparagus food items, members of the Hadley Fire Department will be cooking burgers and hot dogs for sale and there will also be a beer garden for those 21 and over.

Local bands will be performing from what is being called the Spear Stage.

For children, there will be face painting, farm equipment displays and animals.

Almost all parking will be off-site at 300 Venture Way , a short distance from Route 9, with shuttles running the 3.3 miles from that location throughout the day. Handicapped parking will be available on-site.

Proceeds from Asparagus Days will benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and the Edward Hopkins Educational Foundation.
