Amanda (Mandy) Gail Emerson

Williamsburg, MA – A lifelong resident of Williamsburg, Mandy died
suddenly on May 31st at the North Street home she shared with her long
time partner Rick Lipchutz. She was born February 1st 1954 at CDH in
Northampton to Lawrence Waldo Emerson and Bernice Ruth Miller, both
deceased.

Mandy attended Williamsburg schools and was in the first class to
graduate from Hampshire Regional High School in 1972. She also
attended Berkshire Community College where she acquired her degree in
fine arts and theater arts. She was a poet, philosopher,
horticulturist, a master of crewel embroidery and like her father, a
darner of socks.

She leaves behind her sister, Wendy Emerson-Sysko, her niece Natasha
and her partner TJ and her nephew Justin. She also leaves behind her
long-time partner Rick Lipchutz, her two first cousins Julie Harte and
her husband Rich of Randolph Ma and Joseph Bohne and his wife Nancy of
Wyoming as well as three second cousins, Donald Lawton, Debbie Lawton
Turner and David Lawton, all of Williamsburg

Mandy was a member of the Williamsburg Congregational Church, the
Historical Society, the Meekins Library and the Williamsburg Players
theater group. She had many friends including the animals in her care,
even bugs and salamanders! She helped her great uncle Raymond Lawton
with chores like mending fences when he was the last of the old folks
to work the farm. And when he died, she cared for the last of the farm
animals, the work horse Princy and one milk cow. For over 50 years,
the Lawton farm was her home and remained so in her heart always.

You could often see Mandy walking all around town, collecting wild
flowers for the Food Pantry or sitting with Rick at the Williamsburg
General Store working on their writing. Leaving any gathering, she
would say “Good-bye but just for now!” and we keep that sentiment.
Good-bye Mandy but Just For Now! May the Horse Be With You!

A Life Celebration will be held at the Williamsburg Grange on November
1 at 1:00.
