Jane Wagenbach Booth

Hadley, MA – Jane Wagenbach Booth, 79, of Hadley, MA, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final days.

Jane was born in Lawrence, MA, on August 5, 1946, daughter of William F. Wagenbach, M.D. and Claire A. (Garrity) Wagenbach. Jane moved a lot as a young child due to her father being in the Army, but then settled in Andover, MA while Jane was in elementary school. Cherished memories were of boating with her family on the lake.

After moving to Amherst, Jane attended Amherst Regional High School, graduating in 1964, where she served as class secretary and had many friends. Jane worked tirelessly to promote class reunions, which were well attended, and was appreciated for facilitating continued regular gatherings with local former classmates. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Sociology, which she made good use of as a social worker in Springfield and, for many years, as the director of the Hadley Senior Center. She was creative, friendly, cheerful, thoughtful, and generous, and she was an excellent hostess. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, helping others, visiting the beach (with a stop at Kimball’s for mocha almond assault ice cream), and she was always up for an adventure.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Michael Wagenbach of Ludlow. She is survived by her husband, Bob, and her daughters, Alison L. Booth Maio of Sunderland and Lindsay Priscilla Booth of Hadley, and Alison’s husband, Anthony Maio. Also surviving Jane are her adored grandchildren, Caitlin Maio, Haven Jones, Evan Maio, and Jaiden Booth, as well as sister-in-law Chris Wagenbach.

She was a very involved mother and grandmother. She would do anything for her family. She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jane’s memory to Meghan’s Light, PO Box 457, Feeding Hills, MA 01030. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
