The Smith Voc girls soccer team won the Small School Vocational Tournament title for the first time in program history in dominant fashion, shutting out McCann Tech, 7-0, on its home turf on Friday.

Erin Miller scored a hat trick, plus added an assist, as the Vikings top point-getter in the championship game. Savannah Fredette factored in two assists, while Monique Fredette, Isabella Letourneau and Sophie Prukalski found the back of the net for Smith Voc too.

“The girls came out fired up and ready to play today especially against our league rivals,” Vikings head coach Alicia Carter said. “The girls played incredible together as a team, staying calm and possessing the ball around the field. We are a lot of fun to watch and are a very talented team.”

Smith Voc moved to 14-1-4 after the win and are a top-15 ranked team in the MIAA Division 5 power rankings.

Holyoke 2, Easthampton 1 — Isiah Frazer’s goal sent the Purple Knights past the Eagles in the midweek, non-playoff contest.

Christian Piedra (Holyoke) and Jude Pratt-Miranda (Easthampton) registered the goals in this one before Frazer’s decider.

“Easthampton played a great game,” Purple Knights coach Cam Rivest said. “They had our number the whole first half and they took advantage of a mistake from us. Lucky for us we were able to reset and played very well in the second half to come back.”
