Sunderland, MA – Walter I. Arnold, 88, of Sunderland, passed away on March 14, 2026, after a short stay at the Center for Extended Care at Amherst. He was born in Northampton on July 27, 1937, to the late Walter and Amelia (Kaeppel) Arnold.
He was raised in Northampton and graduated from Northampton High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Greenland. After completing his military service, Walter began a long and successful career with AT&T, which later became Verizon. He worked as a central office electrical technician and retired after 36 years of service.
Walter loved traveling throughout the United States with his camper, especially enjoying his winters in Florida. He also took great pleasure in working on his Ford trucks and fixing things around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Ann M. (Pedruczny) Arnold of Sunderland, his sons, Dana, David, and Darryl Arnold, his daughter, Darla, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his close nephew, Neil Arnold of Easthampton, and his beloved dog, Emma.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Doroty (Pfeiffer) Arnold, as well as his brothers Warren and Norman and his sister, Virginia.
A private service was held at his home in Sunderland. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON has been entrusted with his care.
