We would like to express our appreciation to the Cooley Dickinson Hospital administration for removing the upward-facing lights beneath the clear atrium at the main entrance. Especially during this season of spring migration, such lighting can disorient birds heading north. Their decision to do this and investigate safe shielding from glare reflects a thoughtful commitment to the well-being of our broader community. We appreciate their continued efforts to work collaboratively to address environmental and safety concerns.

We hope others will follow their example by turning off lights when they are not necessary for visibility, particularly during the peak migration months of April through June. Small actions like these can make a meaningful difference.

Letโ€™s all be mindful of how our choices affect our neighbors โ€” whether feathered, furred, or otherwise adorned.
