GOSHEN — Former Town Moderator Keith Wright won a three-year term on the Select Board by a wide margin Saturday, defeating challenger Charles Amo in the town election.
Both candidates were write-ins, and Wright received 149 votes compared to 37 for Amo, according to Town Clerk Kristen Estelle.
“I woke up this morning proud of the campaign that Charlie Amo and I ran for Select Board. We were friendly throughout and we stuck to the issues,” wrote Wright in a Facebook post following his win. “I’ll be going to bed tonight honored and humbled — thank you Goshen voters for choosing me to be your new Select Board member!”
Amo also took to Facebook writing that, “I would like to congratulate Keith Wright for winning Select Board seat. Also thank you for my supporters and all that came out to vote.”
Meanwhile, challenger Shelby Howland unseated incumbent Dawn Scaparotti for a seat on the Finance Committee by a vote of 122-81.
In one of three slots on the ballot that had no candidates, John Otis was elected assessor after garnering two votes, and 217 voters left the space blank. Heather Crocker Aulenback received 25 votes to be on the Chesterfield/Goshen Regional School Committee, and Paul Marcinek received 18 votes for a spot on the Hampshire Regional School Committee.
The remaining candidates were unchallenged. Sabrina McGill is back for another three-year term as almoner, as well as a three-year spot on the Finance Committee.
Joshua Lafond will return for three more years on the Board of Health, and Robert Raymond will serve five more years on the Planning Board.
Both Rosemary Bienz and Jane McGrath will serve three more years as Library Trustees, and Donna Kolodziej will serve a one-year slot. Roger Culver, Robert Goss and Richard Polwrek all received another one-year term as Tilton Fruit Farm supervisors and will oversee the town’s municipal farm.
