CUMMINGTON — The ins-and-outs of the William Cullen Bryant Homestead can be explored Saturday, with the Trustees of Reservations offering guided tours of both the home and trails of the 19th century poet and journalist’s former estate.

A guided tour of the home, at 207 Bryant Road, will take place at 10 a.m. The tour will guide guests through the rooms where Bryant spent his formative years and later returned for inspiration and retreat. The preserved space boasts original furnishings, Bryant family artifacts, and sweeping views of the Westfield River Valley that helped shape his poetry and environmental values.

Also at 10 a.m., Adventure East will lead a woodland walk around the home for those aged 12 and up. Along the walk are towering white pines, ancient hemlocks, and naturalists will explain the different characteristics of the forest.

Those interested in a self-guided tour can visit between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Those interested must register on the Trustees’ website.
