Melbourne Beach, FL – Joan E. Bartlett, 75, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, formerly of Hatfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 19, 2026.
Joan lived a life defined by hard work, service, adventure, and devotion to her family. Alongside her beloved husband, who predeceased her, she owned and operated Hatfield Equipment for more than 40 years, building not only a successful business but also lasting relationships throughout the community.
Joan was a former member of the Hatfield Finance Committee, where she generously gave her time and talents in support of her hometown. She was involved in organizations that reflected her interests and values, including the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 344 in Hatfield and the Space Coast Vettes Corvette Club in Florida.
Joan embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. She found great joy sailing in Mystic, Connecticut, spending time at the beach, and traveling with family and friends. She treasured the friendships she made in both Massachusetts and Florida and loved gathering with friends for card games, puzzles, and plenty of laughter. Whether around a card table, working on a challenging puzzle, or sharing stories with friends, Joan valued the simple moments that brought people together.
Joan loved opening her home to family and friends, hosting holidays, celebrations, and impromptu gatherings. No one ever left her house hungry as she always prepared far more food than anyone could possibly eat, a reflection of her desire to make everyone feel welcome and cared for.
Above all else, Joan was devoted to her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support enriched the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the family she treasured so dearly.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Bartlett Jr, her mother, father, brothers and other family members.
She is survived by her children and their partners, Michael Bartlett and Holli Brannan; Susan and Kenneth Lynes; her grandson, Maxwell Bartlett and his fiancée, Kaitlyn; and her granddaughter, Ashley Higgins, and her beloved niece, Lynn Hart Taber.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home, 173 North Street, Northampton, MA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial beside her beloved husband at Calvary Cemetery in Hatfield.
