JUDITH BRUDER

Northampton, MA – Judith "Judy" Bruder, 91, of Northampton, MA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, following a short illness, surrounded by family and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin "Frank" Bruder, in 2016.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 6, 1934, Judy grew up on Long Island, cultivating a lifelong passion for storytelling. A published author, she gave voice to her rich inner world and keen observations through her published works, including Going to Jerusalem (1979), Convergence (1993), and From My Button Box: Collected Essays in a Pandemic Time (2023).

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Gohl; her granddaughter, Samantha Anderson, and her husband, Ian Anderson; her granddaughter, Sarah Davies, and her husband, Daelan Davies; her grandsons, Thomas and Daniel Kennedy; her great-granddaughter, Casey Anderson; her sisters, Mindy Brownstein and Jessica Rae; as well as her son, John Bruder, and his family; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends across the world.
