The No. 20 UMass hockey team salvaged a split with Harvard after beating the Crimson, 4-2, at the Mullins Center on Friday night.

The Minutemen were led by a pair of seniors in the bounce-back victory as Jack Musa scored and had an assist while goalie Jackson Irving posted 35 saves in his first start of the season.

UMass lost the series opener in Cambridge, 2-1, on Thursday.

Minutemen freshmen Samu Alalauri (power play) and Melvin Novotny tallied their first career goals against Harvard, while Egor Barabanov, another freshman, served up two assists.

Larry Keenan scored an empty-netter to lock in the win for UMass.

Tied 2-2 after two periods, Musa’s goal, a power-play marker at four minutes, 13 seconds of the third, counted as the game winner.

The Minutemen moved to 4-4-1 overall after the win.
