GRANBY — Batchelor Street closed for four hours on Sunday after a vehicle left the road and struck nearby trees, according to Granby police.
The Granby police and fire departments, supported by state police officers, responded to 300 Amherst St. at 5:46 p.m. after receiving a call about a vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation found the vehicle was traveling west on Batchelor Street, near the intersection with Amherst Street, when it went off the road.
Granby Police Chief Kevin O’Grady said Belchertown Police used its drone to search the nearby woods for any other passengers after the driver could not confirm whether anyone else was in the vehicle with them. No additional passengers were found in the search.
Batchelor Street reopened once the search was completed.
The vehicle operator sustained some minor injuries and was transferred to Baystate Medical Center.
Granby Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash. The operator’s name has not been released, O’Grady said.
