The South Hadley swim program swept both meets against Holyoke at Holyoke High School on Friday.

The Tigers won the boys meet, 33-10, while the girls squad prevailed, 107-46.

Emma Skibel took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1 minute, 18.22 seconds) for the Tigers. Skibel also contributed to the Tigers’ first-place teams in the 200 medley relay (2:17.47) and 200 freestyle relay (1:58.02).

For Holyoke, Charlotte Brunette won the 200 IM (2:49:58). Miranda Brunette was first in the 100 breast (1:26.58).

On the boys side, Brady Pete took first in the 200 freestyle (2:07.49) and 100 backstroke (1:11.03) for South Hadley. Eric Bergeron took first in the 50 freestyle (29.65) and the 100 breaststroke (1:30.15).

Holyoke lone swimmer Jose Roman was first in the 500 free (8:26.63).

Indoor track & field

The Northampton girls team went 3-0 Friday during the early session of the final PVIAC regular-season meet at Smith College.

Northampton beat Holyoke (89-6), Minnechaug (54-41) and West Springfield (72-24).

Holyoke beat Putnam (38-29), while Hampshire split with a win over Athol (48-27) and a loss to Mahar (45-33). South Hadley topped Mahar, 66-20.

On the boys side, Hampshire beat Athol (60-35) and Mahar (73-21). Northampton defeated Holyoke (78-12) and Minnechaug (62-32) but lost to West Springfield (49-46).

South Hadley beat Mahar (75-19), while Holyoke beat Putnam (56-16).

Farrell Dawson, of South Hadley, won the girls 300-meter dash in 43.36 seconds and the long jump in 16 feet, 7¾ inches. Maddie Doolittle was first in the 55 hurdles (9.51) for the Tigers.

Quincy Biddle won the 600 (1:48.61) while Maggie Reade took the 1,000 (3:26.24) and mile (5:46.39) for Northampton. Mary Young was first in the 2-mile (12:37.92) for Hamp.

The Blue Devils won the 4×200 relay (1:54.00).

Hannah Wodecki was first in the shot put (29-08½) for Hampshire.

In the boys meet, South Hadley sophomore Jonas Clarke won the 55 dash (6.56), while teammates Justin Kennedy (600, 1:25.28) and Ryan Lavrault (shot put, 45-7½) also placed first.

Max MacFadzen (2-mile, 10:26.66) and Josh Denoronha (high jump, 5-9) were first for Hampshire.

Tobias L’Esperance won the mile (4:41.58) for Northampton.

The PVIAC championship meet is Feb. 7 at Smith College.
