Puchalski, Byrne win at Monadnock

Jake Puchalski, of Whately, won his fourth straight race and sixth overall when he captured the Young Gun division during the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire.

Ben Byrne, of Greenfield, won the second 50-lap feature as the Sportsman Modified division capped the evening. Joel Monahan, of Whately, finished third.

Valley Storm softball tryouts

Tryouts for the Valley Storm softball teams for the 2020 season will be held Wednesday through Friday at Merritt Field at Sunderland Elementary School.

Each tryout is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all players. It is not required players attend every tryout date, but strongly encouraged for accurate evaluations. The 2020 season will host 12-and-under, 14U, 16U & 18U teams.

All interested players should send an email with player’s name, school, date of birth and position(s) played to valleystormsoftballinc@gmail.com.

There are opportunities for 14U coaching and assistant coaching for 14U and 16U. Those who are interested should email valleystormsoftballinc@gmail.com.
