George R. Bowers: Concludes President Trump poor role model for Scouts

President Donald Trump this week addressed the Boy Scouts of America in a speech in which, instead of providing moral direction and an ethical compass to the youth of our nation, he lashed out at Hillary Clinton and criticized the press for reporting facts.
Trump extolled his own “virtues” and requested loyalty to him regardless of what he does. Let us see how he compares to the Boy Scout Oath.
Trustworthy: Consult any fact- checker service and see how many times he “misquotes” facts, creates “alternative facts” (that are not true) and creates scenarios that are not true (if you wish to utilize the word “lies,” I will not object).
Loyal: Ask Flynn, Bharara, Comey, Yates and, soon, Sessions (and others) and almost all who were charged with investigating the Russian connection (that Trump denies exists but claims Obama didn’t do enough about). Robert Mueller is next on his hit list.
Helpful: Yes, to himself and his finances and his family “who are totally innocent.”
Courteous: You gotta be kidding me.
Kind: Just ask the people listed under loyal above, the news networks, the reporter with neurological disabilities, and others
Obedient: Not sure how to evaluate this one.

Cheerful: Looked at any of his photos lately (or before)?
Thrifty: I do not think his lifestyle is one of thrift — except with the people and workers who were not paid for the work they did in his multiple bankruptcies. By the way, why will he not release his taxes — nothing to hide there?
Brave: If he had nothing to hide, why did he fire the Russian-connection investigators and now is aiming at Mueller who has the reputation of being honest and honorable?
Clean: Are we talking personal grooming or business and political dealings?
Reverent: As he courts the “religious” people of the United States, he seems to have no knowledge of the Golden Rule.
In essence, the president of the United States of America does not seem to exemplify any of these criteria of a role model.
