The Hampshire Regional softball team knew it had its hands full with Westfield ace Shea Hurley on Friday afternoon, but the Raiders were more than ready for the challenge. Hurley hadn’t given up more than three runs all season coming in.

Hampshire put up six runs and thanks to a dominant performance from Ryanne Dubay, the Raiders walked out of Westfield with a 6-2 win to improve to 4-0 this season. Dubay not only ripped a pair of hits to drive in three RBIs, she also struck out 15 Bombers batters in a gem of an outing in the circle.

Kalin Dubay collected two hits, CC Thayer got the best of Hurley for a 2-run double and Lucy Trombley drove in a run. On top of the offensive output, the Raiders’ defense was lights out. Ryanne Dubay only gave up four hits and two walks in her complete-game effort.

Hampshire (4-0) scored five of its half-dozen runs in the third inning and will next play Greenfield on Monday afternoon – facing another good arm in senior MacKenzie Paulin.

Smith Voc 23, Amherst 0 (5) — Maggie Lauder led a potent Vikings offense with four hits, while Willow Hicks, Caitlin Willard and Makayla Tatro each tallied two. Smith Vocational walked 17 times in its win on Friday afternoon.

Arianna Roberts hit safely for Amherst.

Hopkins 20, Athol 0 (5) — Eleven first-inning runs were plenty enough for the Golden Hawks to get past the Bears in Hadley on Friday afternoon, especially with Cassandra Dion dealing the way she was.

The Hopkins sophomore recorded a no-hitter in her five-inning shutout, fanning eight Bears hitters. She allowed just one base-runner, via a walk. Maggie Potter (five), Alayna Bailey (four, two HRs), Dion (three) and Lily Ellia (two) all drove in multiple runs at the plate in the Hawks’ victory, which moved them to 3-2.
