We were pleased to learn that Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra has announced plans to run for reelection. We believe that Mayor Sciarra is a competent and compassionate leader, and we feel lucky and blessed to have her at the helm here in our unique and wonderful city.

Not only is she a deep listener, a whiz at budgets and spreadsheets, and a kind and sensitive person, but she loves children and is devoted to our public school system. We have witnessed how Mayor Sciarra has kept her calm and been open-hearted when enduring insults and attacks (in meetings and on social media) by a small but very vocal few who unfairly denigrate her leadership.

She has not let it destroy her good nature or make her vindictive or difficult to work with. Even under immense pressure, she has worked tirelessly to advance our city’s best interests. Her job is being made even more difficult by the inhumane, anti-city policies coming out of Washington. Thank you Mayor Sciarra for all you do, all you give, and for being such a dedicated leader. We are proud of you.
