Being an old lady with multiple health issues has been an obstacle to participating in previous protests to the vengeful policies of this oppressive regime. But, I was getting really upset with myself for not doing so. Watching the TV, the devastating acts of this wannabe dictator on all Americans, including those who support him, and not doing anything became intolerable. So, I looked for local April 5 events online and found one somewhat close by in South Hadley. I grabbed my cane and went.
Once I found a parking spot and got out of my car, I heard the people’s chanting, singing, and auto horns blowing. I found myself smiling and my usual pain disappeared. I hobbled up to where the people were gathering and was so impressed with the scores of those who showed up and their creative signs. Everyone was joyous and so kind (so extremely the opposite of those other marches where people carry guns, torches and spew hate).
I feel so proud of these wonderful, caring people. I have to be a part of this. On the drive home I felt myself still smiling and having a hopeful heart.
