Olin Rose-Bardawil’s recent column “Americans want more than two choices” [Gazette, June 14], concerns something I have pondered many times in the past. I have supported third-party candidates, sometimes criticized by Democrats for my position. That was then, this is now.

The Republican Party, once a crusader for law and order and forever reminding everyone how patriotic they are, is now populated by insurrectionists and fascists. It bears all the makings of a cult. Their leader, the former president, is a danger to the nation and democracy as a whole.

We are in the midst of an existential crisis. We would be forever remiss voting for a third-party candidate this time around. Our way of life literally hangs in the balance. Let’s consider a third party after Republicans see the error of their ways.
