First of all, sincere wishes to Gazette columnist Bob Flaherty for a quick and full recovery from the very serious injury he incurred on the bike path, and kudos to the two walkers who came to his aid, and to the Hadley police, Acton EMS, and the staff at Baystate Hospital.

That Bob was willing and able (despite his broken arm) to tell his story in his Feb. 10 column — mixing horrific details with gratitude and even humor — is a testament to both his talent for writing and his humanity.

And his message at the end of the story is something to be remembered, now more than ever.
