HADLEY — Contests for two seats on the Select Board and a one-year position on the Planning Board are expected to be on the town’s May 20 election ballot, which could also feature a Proposition 2½ debt-exclusion override for a new Department of Public Works building.

Philip Shumway of Breckenridge Road has filed nomination papers to seek one of the two three-year seats on the Select Board, currently held by incumbents Randall E. Izer and Molly Keegan, who are both running for reelection.

For Planning Board, a one-year seat is being sought by Anthony Fyden of Cold Spring Lane and Kishore Parmar of Russell Street. Fyden and Parmar were among four applicants for the Planning Board position vacated by Michael Sarsynski last fall, which led to the appointment of Matthew Waldrip, who has opted against running for the remaining year.

Joseph Zgrodnik is seeking the five-year seat on the Planning Board with no opposition.

For School Committee, Christine Pipczynski is running unopposed for a second three-year term.

Most of the other available elective positions also will be filled by incumbents running unopposed, including Kirk Whatley for a three-year term as moderator, Emma Dragon for a three-year term on the Board of Health, Diane Kieras-Ciolkos for a three-year term on the Park Commission, Crystal Jackson for a five-year term the Hadley Housing Authority, Julia Rose for three-year term and Lynn M. Latham for a one-year term as library trustees, Dennis Pipczynski and William Banack for three-year terms as constables, Jessica Spanknebel for a three-year term as town clerk, and Maureen Devine for a one-year post as elector under the Oliver Smith Will.

The only other newcomer on the ballot is Walter Jennings for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors.

There are no candidates for a second three-year position on the library trustees and a four-year position on the Hadley Housing Authority.
