SOUTH HADLEY – Police are investigating a bank robbery that took place Wednesday at Westfield Bank branch at 32 Willimansett St.

Police responded to a report of a robbery shortly before 2 p.m. Police Chief Jennifer Gundersen confirmed the report, but did not disclose any details regarding the case, only adding that no one has yet been taken into custody.

“We are currently investigating this incident,” Gundersen said in a statement. “Due to this being an ongoing investigation, I cannot release any additional information.”

Founded in 1853, Westfield Bank is one of the largest banks based in western Massachusetts, with more than 25 branch officers and holding more than $2 billion in assets, according to the bank’s website.
