EASTHAMPTON — A day of music, fireworks, food and fun awaits Pioneer Valley residents as Thunder in the Valley returns to Easthampton for its ninth year on Saturday.
Thunder in the Valley is a beloved Fourth of July celebration featuring booming rock, country and blues music, crackling fireworks, and a cause that unites everyone in attendance. The event, which takes place at Molitoris Orchard on Park Hill Road, raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital at Baystate Children’s Hospital, and is organized by Unbroken Wings, a charity based in Westfield with a mission to help children who have experienced physical or emotional trauma.
Of the fundraisers and events they host, Thunder in the Valley has become one of the most loved.
“They all come because of the fireworks, the patriotism we show here, and they all know their money is going to a good cause,” said Mike Perrier of Unbroken Wings. “It’s a great event with great people.”
This year, Thunder in the Valley will feature several nationally-recognized bands, an array of gourmet food trucks, alcoholic drinks, games, and an over 21 VIP area.
The musical lineup will feature a 70s and 80s rock tribute by That Arena Rock Show, an Elton John tribute by Bennie and the Jets, and music from Trailer Trash, Scotty Austin, Shovelhead, and Alexis Anamisis.
“We’re evolving every year to a new level,” said Perrier. “It’s one of the few places where people can come together no matter what [political] side they’re on… the fact that the money is going to the Children’s Hospital is a good feeling for everyone.”
The gates will open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 10 p.m., with the fireworks show taking place at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person pre-purchased and $25 at the door. VIP admission is $70 pre-purchased, and includes access to the VIP area, no wait lines for beer and food, and the chance to meet the bands for photos and autographs.
