AMHERST — With the UMass football team’s return to the Mid-American Conference (MAC), the Minutemen have canceled 10 future football games to make room for their built-in conference games – FBSchedules.com reported on Monday.

Those games, four of which were slated to come against Army, three against Liberty and three against Troy, were spread across the next six seasons but will no longer be played.

The canceled Army games include road bouts scheduled for Nov. 22, 2025 and Nov. 27, 2027 as well as home contests scheduled for Nov. 21, 2026 and Nov. 18, 2028. Although those four games have been ditched, the two programs did agree to schedule two more future meetings well down the road – a make up for the COVID-canceled matchup in 2020 and next fall’s game which was to be played on Nov. 9, 2024.

UMass will now play Army Sept. 11, 2032 and Sept. 6, 2036, both games coming at McGuirk Stadium in Amherst.

Against Liberty, the Minutemen were scheduled to play on Nov. 1, 2025 (away), Nov. 7, 2026 (home) and Nov. 6, 2027 (away). They were also slated for contests against Troy, as games on Sept. 27, 2025 (home), Sept. 11, 2027 (home) and Sept. 14, 2030 (away) took UMass through the rest of the decade. Those games are now all off.

Even after the 10 cancelations, UMass still needs to cancel one more game in 2025 – its first season back in the MAC – to get down to four non-conference games and fit its conference schedule. Both the 2026 and 2027 schedules could also see more change in the near future.

The 2024 season begins Aug. 31 at home against Eastern Michigan.
