HADLEY — With less than 10 days for residents to decide if they want to run for elective office at town election this spring, contests could be developing for some positions.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall through March 28 at 5 p.m.

Incumbent members of the Select Board, Randy Izer and Molly Keegan, have both taken out papers, with Izer already returning them, while Planning Board member Joseph Zgrodnik has filed papers to continue his service for another five years.

A race could be in store for the Select Board, where Phil Shumway of Breckenridge Road has pulled papers to run for one of the two seats.

Aside from the Select Board, incumbent constables Dennis Pipczynski and William Banack could face a challenge from Frederick L. King of Bay Road, who pulled papers.

In addition, Anthony Fyden of Cold Spring Lane has gotten papers to run for a one-year position on the Planning Board, a seat held by Matthew Waldrip, who was appointed to fill a vacancy last year.

No one has yet taken out nomination forms for a three-year term on School Committee, held by Christine Pipczynski, or for five-year and four-year terms on the Housing Authority, held respectively by Richard Witkos and Crystal Jackson.

Incumbents who have returned papers include Kirk Whatley for a three-year term as moderator; Jessica Spanknebel for a three-year term as town clerk; Lynn Latham for a one-year term as library trustee; and Maureen K. Devine for a one-year term as elector under the Oliver Smith Will.
