Dean, a sophomore, is a regular in the South Hadley girls basketball team’s starting lineup. Dubuc turned to his bench and asked, “where’s Cara,” after the first possession of the second half. She was sitting down waiting patiently to get subbed back in.

HADLEY — The state’s acting education commissioner is recommending a 100-student increase in the enrollment at the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School, which would allow the school to have as many as 684 K-12 students at its existing 317 Russell St. campus and a second campus on Venture Way.

A trio of Hampshire County basketball programs have made it to championship Saturday, as the Northampton and South Hadley girls teams and Granby boys team will compete in their respective title games looking to raise hardware.
