Senior Megan Burke and freshman Rebeca Frisk each tallied a second-half goal as the UMass women’s soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 win over Holy Cross, in Worcester on Monday.
Burke scored in the 69th minute before Frisk added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute.
Goalkeeper Cassidy Babin recorded her seventh career shutout. The junior made four saves.
The Minutewomen held a 15 to 7 advantage in shots, while Holy Cross (1-1) held a 6 to 5 edge in corner kicks.
UMass (1-0) plays Thursday (7 p.m.) at Central Florida in Orlando, before heading to South Florida on Sunday ( 1 p.m.).
