AMHERST –  Dickinson Street is closed to through traffic daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for water and sewer improvements. The project began Wednesday and is scheduled to last two months.

Caracas Construction of Ludlow is starting replacement of sewer mains on the road that connects Main and College streets.

Sewer main replacement will start behind 40 Dickinson St. and continue north toward the intersection with Main Street.

When the sewer work is done, water main replacement will begin.

People who live and work on the street will be allowed to access their homes and businesses, but delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. No on-street parking will be allowed.
