Holocaust survivor to speak at HRHS

WESTHAMPTON — On Monday, from 7-8 p.m. Holocaust survivor Irene Butter will share with Hampshire Regional High School her experiences in concentration camps, her time knowing Anne Frank when they both lived in Amsterdam and how she survived and eventually made it to the United States to become one of the first women to earn a doctorate in economics from Duke University.

One of only a few survivors of the Holocaust still alive to share her story, Butter will also speak with the students about intolerance and the dangers of being a bystander without speaking out against injustice.

lane closures

DEERFIELD — Roadwork will reduced Interstate 91 to one lane in both directions through Deerfield on Monday. The work is expected to last three weeks, according to MassDOT. The lanes will be closed between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m., depending on weather.

Route 10 lane closures Monday

SOUTHAMPTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced paving work on Route 10 in Southampton, which will result in lane closures on Monday.

According to MassDOT, between approximately 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., one lane of traffic will be closed to allow crews to repave parts of the roadway. There will be appropriate signage and messaging to guide drivers through the work zones.

The schedule for this work is weather dependent, according to MassDOT, and is subject to change without notice.

Northampton waterrestrictions

NORTHAMPTON — A water use restriction is in effect for users of the Northampton Public Water Supply, according to the city’s public works department. Non-essential outdoor water use is banned between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The ban includes lawn and garden irrigation, vehicle washing other than by commerical car wash, and washing of exterior building surfaces, parking lots, driveways or sidewalks, except as needed to apply paint, preservatives, stucco, pavement or cement.
