Lauren Cooper to the rescue.

The Belchertown field hockey player scored in the fourth quarter on Friday, securing a 1-1 independent draw against Frontier in South Deerfield. 

Ashley Taylor scored the Redhawks’ lone goal of the game in the second quarter off an assist from Claire Kirkendall. Belchertown’s Abigail Olden also tallied an assist in the tie. 

Orioles’ goalie Eliza Rothstein made four saves and Frontier’s Ella Flanders made one stop in net. 

Hampshire 8, Palmer 0 – Reese Hickox and Chloe Moynihan scored a pair of goals each in a Hampshire rout over Palmer. 

Mackenzie Colson (1G, 1A), Mary Thibault (1G, 2A), Lydia Donatelli (1G), Nora Hamel (1G), Silvia Bastek (1A), Ryleigh Fennessy (1A) and Ava Kowalczyk  (1A) also got on the scoreboard for the Raiders. 

Hampshire goalie Olivia Labrie made seven stops in the win. 

East Longmeadow 3, Holyoke 0 – Holyoke goalie Isabella Murphy made 13 stops in a loss to East Longmeadow on Friday. The loss brought the Purple Knights’ record to 3-7-1. 

Boys soccer

Amherst 2, Pittsfield 1 – Patrick Saudenmayer scored both of the Hurricane’s goals on Friday to give Amherst a one-goal win over Pittsfield. 

Liam Stewart and Philip Wababa had an assist apiece for Amherst. 

Frontier 7, Mount Everett 1 – Despite falling behind 1-0 in the opening minute, Frontier quickly responded with seven unanswered goals in a blowout victory over Mount Everett. 

Brady Burch and Matt Sicard scored a pair of goals each; Nico Fasulo, Devin Niles and Aiden Valderrama also netted a goal for Frontier. Valderrama, Fasulo and Niles each had an assist, and Max Rajballie picked up a pair of helpers. 

Smith Voc 3, PVCICS 0 – Rosco Palmer scored twice and Cameron Ball added the Vikings third goal in a shutout win for Smith Voc.

PVCICS keeper Pom-Richard Ang made six saves in the loss. 

Girls soccer

Chicopee 3, Granby 2 – Kalli White and Breanna Moreno scored Granby’s two goals in a close loss to Chicopee. 

Meredith Bartosz made seven saves in the loss. 

Hopkins 6, Taconic 0 – Morgan Augustin scored Hopkins’ first goal in the opening minute and the Golden Hawks didn’t take their foot off the gas for the rest of the contest. 

Aurora Moynihan scored two goals and an assist and Augustin added three more assists for Hopkins. Isabelle Palmisano scored on a penalty kick and Kasey Earle also scored for the Golden Hawks. 

Frontier 3, Renaissance 0 — Maddie Bennet, Maddie Fagan and Kylie Laford were the Frontier goal scorers in Friday’s Pioneer League North victory at Marshall Roy Field in Springfield.

The Redhawks (8-4-2, 7-1-1) did all their damage in the first half. Assists were notched by Sydney Tor, Chloe Felton Emerick and Anna Petrin, and goalie Cady Wells Robinson recorded two saves for the shutout.

Girls volleyball

Belchertown 3, Lenox, 2 – In an epic five-set match, the Orioles emerged victorious over Lenox (23-25, 25-13, 25-19, 19-25, 15-6). 

Setter Vivian Ross put up 35 assists while Paige Magner and Gianna Picardi led the offense with 16 and 11 kills, respectively. Ava Shea had eight aces and three blocks and Hailey Smith had three blocks. 

East Longmeadow 3, Easthampton 1 – The Eagles took the first set against East Longmeadow, but couldn’t sustain their momentum in a four-set defeat (25-19, 22-25, 24-26, 16-25). 

Maggie Bar finished with 17 digs, eight kills and four blocks, Kaelin Damon had 10 kills and a pair of aces, Erin Teague had 21 assists and Kayley Downie posted 15 digs and two aces.

Minnechaug 128.95 –
 The Raiders edged out both Westfield and Minnechaug in a tight tri-meet contest on Friday night. Hampshire was led by all-around champion Hailey Raffa (35.45); Raffa also finished first on vault (9.25), bars (8.6) and beam (8.7). 

Tyler Hetu finished first with his floor routine (9), followed closely by Raffa (8.9). The Raiders swept the three top spots on bars, with Maddie Hollister placing second with 8.35 and Hetu finishing third with 8.3. Hetu also placed second in all-around with a 34.3 score.
