November is a difficult month for my family and for others as well. The clocks fall backwards and it gets a little darker outside. The cold chills us even more. And it has been one year since my brother passed away. What helps me get through difficult times like this is the prescious moments of joy with family and friends, being out in nature as much as possible, and a good nights sleep. I am realizing more and more I cannot change the past or predict the future, all I can do is hold on to and let go of this breath in the moment.
If you are reading this I’d like to share that I miss my brother very much and he has taught me many things and continues to show me how to live a meaningful life. I am not saying I am good at it every second and sometimes it is just plain hard and difficult. But I try to rise each day, listen, laugh, love and when I am wrong I try to learn, grow and apologize.
I hope in this holiday season we can all have some peace, can find contentment and can continue believing that there is good. My brother said to “keep your face to the sun” and as I write this the light is coming through my living room window as I hold his niece in my lap and am remembering him and honoring him by continuing on each day.
