Democrats erred in filibustering Gorsuch

Am I the only one who thinks the Democrats screwed up when they insisted on filibustering the vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch?

Had the Dems been willing to vote up or down on his nomination, he would have failed to receive the 60 votes then required for confirmation. The Dems knew that the GOP was prepared to launch the nuclear option in order to prevent a filibuster, but the Dems pressed on. End result, Gorsuch got confirmed 54 to 45, and future Supreme Court nominations need only a simple majority to win confirmation.

To me that is a dictionary definition of cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face. And I am a Democrat.
