Chuck Horn: Hope for our new generations

I will be 80 in November. My life experiences give me some wisdom, but they can also stilt my views. So, I increasingly lean on the wisdom of younger generations. They are the future, as I fade. With the rise of Kamala Harris, recent Mideast peace demonstrations, and the 2024 Olympics, fresh blood is rising. We elders are passing the torch, and younger folks must take it.
To all younger people, I feel the same frustration and anxiety over our world’s state as do you. Fear sometimes spills into depression. But never give up. You will give it your best, learn from errors, and move on.
Please know that your hopes are being realized often when it seems the opposite. You are stronger than you feel. Your task will be doable largely because you believe, even in the face of adversity. Stay the course.
The tasks are daunting: bringing peace, repairing climate, healing racial strife, reuniting our country, and more. But you will persevere. Each person must “do their bit” while joining forces to create a better future.
Despite the difficulties and some failures in my many years, I feel fulfilled. May you also. These are scary times but exciting, too. Look forward to your future as much for the challenge as the good times. Be part of the action.
You can do this — head high, with allies at your side, your efforts can indeed “change the world.” Bless you all.
