Chuck Horn: Pondering our post-election feelings and deeds

Come Nov. 6, campaign anxiety will turn to joy or disappointment. Now is a good time to consider how we would handle each.

In doing so, please consider this: We will still need to deal with each other. We know our differences, but do we realize how much we have in common? And that “United” in U.S.A. is something we must work at all the time. We will need to vent, but we must also calm ourselves, step away from the noise, and gain a better perspective.

Continue to debate; that’s the American way. But hate has no place. Effortlessly, hate slips inside our souls, and while it feels energizing, even effective, it is really like a parasite, devouring us from the inside out. And it multiplies as each attack makes new enemies — created or real — who are apt to return the favor. No one benefits.

We and our country must be better than that. There are enough real adversaries to snatch our leadership role via “divide and conquer.” However, I believe that we will come together and persevere, even thrive as we have so many times before.

We can do this. Ignore the noise. Onward to a better future. Bless you all. Here’s to our U.S.A.
