Criticizes Chinese charter school administrators

The response of administrators at the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School to the concerns of parents of learning-disabled children (“Critics rap local charter on special ed,” May 27-28) doesn’t help the case that charter schools serve all the children, as public schools are required to do by law.

If those administrators were serious about their responsibilities to learning-disabled children, they would not dismiss the concerns of parents. Rather, they should worry that there are likely more children being mistreated at the school whose parents don’t have the time or fortitude to fight for them.

One wonders what the percentage of learning-disabled children would be at the PVCICS if all those children were cherished and held close there instead of being subtly shown the door.

Voters were judicious in rejecting the expansion of charters schools in Massachusetts.
