NORTHAMPTON – Police are still asking for the public’s help  in gathering information about a fire that destroyed the playground at Arcanum field earlier this week.

Northampton Police and Fire officials are calling the fire suspicious.

Police have followed up on a few tips and are still asking for anybody who saw anything suspicious to give them a call, Detective Lt. Alan Borowski said.

Northampton police and firefighters responded to the playground on Monday shortly before 3 a.m. after a nearby resident called police to report a play structure was on fire, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Northampton Police Detective Bureau at 587-1100.
