The UMass women’s basketball team went one-and-done in its final Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament after falling to Saint Louis, 67-57, Thursday night at the Henrico Sports Event Center in Glen Allen, Virginia.

The Minutewomen were the higher-ranked team as the No. 7 seed, but the 10th-ranked Billikens played Wednesday and used the momentum from their win against St. Bonaventure to advance past UMass.

Saint Louis held the Minutewomen, which had a bye in the first round, to 13 combined points in quarters two and three, holding leads of 31-25 at half and 49-32 after three quarters. UMass stormed back for 25 in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Billikens held on and move on to face No. 2 George Mason on Friday.

Turnovers impacted both teams as the contest featured 51 total turnovers. Minutewomen freshman Yahmani McKayle — recently named the A-10 Rookie of the Year — struggled in this department with a game-high 12 turnovers.

Poor ball-management combined with a quiet game from junior Megan Olbrys proved to be too much to overcome for UMass. Olbrys finished with eight points, six of them dropping in the final frame. McKayle led the Minutewomen with 15 points, followed by 14 points from senior Allie Palmieri and 12 points from senior Stef Kulesza.

Saint Louis shot 47 percent from the field, compared to UMass’ 33 percent field-goal percentage. Both teams were about even from beyond the arc (38 percent for the Minutewomen, 36 percent for the Billikens), while free-throws favored UMass, who shot 16-for-22 from the charity stripe.

Brooklyn Gray was Saint Louis’ top scorer with 30 points, while Peyton Kennedy had 13.

The Minutewomen concluded the 2024-25 season with a 16-14 record, a 11-win improvement from the 2023-24 season.
