“It all started with one question: What new phone to get my daughter? I learned that youths spend on average 7 hours a day looking at screens. As a doctor, I decided I needed to understand the impact of this on kids, and, as a mom, I need to know what to do.”
So states physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston, whose documentary “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age” takes stock of all those kids scrolling through life with rapid-fire thumbs and six-second attention spans, along with all those parents at a loss for what to do about it.
Calling the matter “the biggest parenting issue of our time,” the Hartsbrook School in Hadley has scheduled two screenings of the film, Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m., with a discussion to follow each. Tickets cost $12. Seating is limited and reservations are required. eventbrite.com
