A furious comeback fell just short for the Williston Northampton football team in its season opener Saturday.
The Wildcats trailed 28-7 going into the fourth quarter before tying the game at 28 with 40 seconds remaining.
Kent scored again to win 34-28.
Florenceโs Ian Ostberg went 21-for-34 with 218 yards and three touchdowns for Williston (0-1).
His primary target was Austin Ryan, who caught eight passes for 102 yards and a score.

Williston 25, Suffield Academy 29; Northfield Mount Hermon 26, Williston 33 โ Nick Hill finished second overall for the Wildcats.
Northfield Mount Hermon 18, Williston 30; Worcester 25, Williston 30 โ Florenceโs Abigail Touhey took third, while Southamptonโs Chloe Prouty was seventh. Annika Johnson of Northamptno took eighth Saturday.
