As I was leaving Mount Holyoke College this week, I noticed a window covered in dead vines. I’m not sure why it caught my eye except that spring is now here and everything around the window was green and coming to life. As I peered more closely, I realized I was looking at the classic ivy vines on the classic brick building at the classic Ivy League school — except the vines had gotten between the panes of glass and died there. I made my way into the building, thinking this might make a nice picture, and I came up with the brown against the new green of the trees.
