LEVERETT — Miniature canvases featuring local scenery and landscapes, animals and other objects like spaceships and basketballs, as well as abstract images, will be on display at the Community Room in the Leverett Library, at 75 Montague Road.
The Community Mini Art Show, with 185 works on 3-inch by 3-inch canvases completed by community members of all ages, runs through the end of August, with a reception set for Saturday, July 11 at 1 p.m.
Decorated with paint, fabric, feathers, ink and other media, the canvases were distributed to the Leverett Elementary School, where every student had the opportunity to complete one for art class. The canvases were also handed out from the library front desk to any patron requesting one.

“We’re thrilled that so many community members of all ages participated,” said Sarah Prager, programming librarian.
The show is supported by the Leverett Cultural Council and Friends of Leverett Library and will run during all times the library is open, with usual hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friends members are also making snacks for the opening reception.
The Community Mini Art Show is part of the library’s Summer Reading program, which offers prizes, weekly concerts, workshops and a community read.
Artists will be able to take their canvases home at the conclusion of the the summer show.
