Friday’s colleges: UMass beats Davidson for 48th straight A-10 women’s lacrosse victory

The UMass women’s lacrosse team won its seventh straight game Friday, 16-6 over Davidson in North Carolina.

It was the 48th straight Atlantic 10 win for UMass (8-3, 3-0).

Hannah Murphy scored four goals for the Minutewomen. Ashley Faulhaber and Kiley Anderson both added three goals for UMass.

Baseball

VCU 8, UMass 0 — Jon Avallone and Mike Geannelis each had a hit but the Minutemen (6-15) dropped their home opener.

Middlebury 8, Amherst 4 — The Mammoths had an early lead, but couldn’t hold on and lost at home.

Amherst led 3-1 after the fourth inning.

Sam Ellinwood had two hits and a RBI for Amherst (5-7, 0-1).
