HADLEY — J. Crew Factory, a national clothing retailer, will be coming to Mountain Farms Mall later this year.

“J.Crew Factory Mountain Farms is expected to open this summer,” Kristy Guilbault, a company spokeswoman, said Wednesday.

Guilbault said more details about the store, which will sell clothes in J. Crew’s made-for-outlet line, will be announced closer to its opening.

A similar J. Crew Factory is located in Longmeadow.

The town’s Planning Board Tuesday approved a sign for the J. Crew space at 327 Russell St., taking over the storefront previously used by Mattress Firm, between Whole Foods Market and Smithland Pet Center. Mattress Firm now operates from a nearby building at 7 South Maple St.

Amanda Pfeffer, a representative of Agnoli Sign Co. in Springfield, said the signs would total 36.5 square feet. “The existing signage is going to be removed, and the goosenecks, and they’re looking to install internally illuminated halo lit channel letters,” Pfeffer said.

Planners approved the signs for both the building and the pylon sign along Route 9 by a 5-0 vote.

Drive-thru coffee shop

Planners also got a second presentation, following one last July, about a drive-thru coffee shop planned for 347 Russell St., in an undeveloped area between the Jiffy Lube, also at 347 Russell, and Four Seasons Wines & Liquors, at 333 Russell St.

Civil engineer Marcus Puttock of Godfrey-Hoffman Hodge, LLC, of North Haven, Connecticut, explained that 7 Brew Coffee will install a 525-square-foot building and a 247-square foot refrigeration unit, both of which will be built off site.

There are no actual drive-thru windows, but instead staff will take orders in two drive-thru lanes using iPad-like devices and then runners will bring the customers their drinks, including coffee, infused energy drinks, Italian sodas, smoothies, teas and milkshakes. No food will be prepared or served on site.

Managed by Manraj Parmar, a Connecticut franchisee, 7 Brew will be one of more than 300 stores in 37 states, Pottuck said.

An April 15 public hearing will review the plans.

Walmart parking lot

The Planning Board also received a presentation from an engineering company representing Walmart about improvements to the parking area in front of the Mountain Farms Mall store. This will include new pavement striping and directional signs, and a better designation of the area for people to park when making pickups of online orders.
