We are writing to express our support for The Jones Library project. We have been residents of Amherst for almost 30 years, and patrons of the library throughout that time. We raised our kids with frequent visits to the children’s room, attended activities and performances in the community room, and have availed ourselves of other resources and lendings over the years. We believe a vibrant, historic, and modernized library appropriately reflects the town’s values. It will continue to be a vital resource to its citizens of all ages for many years to come, while serving a vital social justice function. The Jones is a beloved part of this community, and sorely in need of the repairs and expansion that this timely opportunity for a Massachusetts Board of Library Commisioners grant provides. We appreciate the focus and attention of those who have worked on this project for so many years, and we are proud to have pledged a significant contribution toward its completion.
