PHOTOS: PVCICS boys tennis wins seventh match in a row

The PVCICS boys tennis team defeated Chicopee 5-0 on Thursday at the Bay Road Tennis Courts to improve to 12-1 and win its seventh match in a row.
No. 1 singles Hugo Shinn and No. 1 doubles team James and Teddy Scott both won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
No. 2 singles Aidan Cleary was close to perfect with a 6-0, 6-1 win, and No. 3 singles Clayton English (6-2, 6-2) and No. 2 doubles Derek and Devan Ye (6-2, 6-1) also won handily.
Frontier 5, Chicopee Comp 0 — Miles Keefe took No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0), Jacob Han won in No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-0) and Robert Fuqua earned a win in No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0) to lift the Redhawks to a win over the Colts on Thursday in South Deerfield.
Oliver Brown and Harry Wright walked away with a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles while Ben Desmond and Brayden Reipold earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 2 doubles for Frontier.
Northampton 5, Ludlow 0 – Maitreya Abend and Eli Wool secured a Blue Devils sweet at No. 2 doubles by besting Jon Goncalves and Gavin Vala 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. Northampton No. 1 singles player Reilly Fowles handled Ryan Gomes 6-0, 6-2. Max Cahillane defeated Owen Shea 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, and Durrell Patrick prevailed 6-4, 6-1 against Chris Goncalves.
Amherst 4, Minnechaug 1 – A singles sweep propelled the Hurricanes. Amherst’s No. 3 Elias Katsaros swept Owen Perr 6-0, 6-0. Miles Jeffries kept up his strong season at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kelvin Ohemeng, and Woojin Kwon bested Hayden Richard 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.
Amherst’s No. 2 doubles team of Rory Hartblay and Oliver Hansell took down Josh Lawrence and Alex Gormley 7-6, 7-5.

Minnechaug 4, Belchertown 1 – Trevor Weiss provided the Orioles’ point with a 6-1, 6-3 win over in Ohemeng on Wednesday night at home.
Belchertown 5, Agawam 0 – Ava Shea had a perfect game in her No. 1 match (6-0, 6-0) and Belchertown swept Agawam on Thursday.
Rounding out singles for Belchertown was No. 2 Amber Drummond (6-0, 6-1) and No. 3 Anna Stamp (6-3, 6-3).
No. 1 doubles pair Kasey Gibbons and Katie Collins (6-2, 6-1) and No. 2 doubles Emalee Chaisson and Mia Corish (6-4-, 6-2) both won their matches to complete the sweep.
Northampton 3, Ludlow 2 – The Blue Devils avenged a loss in the Western Massachusetts final last season. Ursula Von Goeler defeated Maline Dinis 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Summer Sorensen took down Shaelee Cavanaugh 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.
Northampton’s No. 1 doubles team of Annalisa Agliotti and Julia Keivoiy Einhorn took down India Iwaniec and Amie Texeira 2-6, 7-6, 7-5 to clinch the match in a thriller.
Smith Vocational 10, Pathfinder 0 – The Vikings poured on five runs in the top of the seventh inning to clinch the Tri-County North league championship.
James Lavalle threw a no-hitter with two walks and struck out 12. He drew three walks and scored a run at the plate.
Smith Vocational’s Roscoe Palmer homered and scored two runs with two RBIs, while Caelan Finnie (two hits) had two RBIs.
Pat Millin registered two hits and scored two runs.
Dawson Kelly (double), Jared Baer, Tyler Carlson and Carter Blanchette (double, two runs) each contributed a hit and an RBI.
Turners Falls 15, Smith Academy 4 – Griffin Smiarowski (triple, two runs) Cam Graves and Harry LaFlamme each had a hit and drove in a run for the Falcons. Smith Academy’s Logan Graves and Ryan Belina each singled and scored one, while Jake Wilcox had a hit.
Ware 3, South Hadley 0 – Ben Foley, Matt Drobiak, John Viola and Logan Carpenter each singled once for the Tigers on the road Wednesday night.
Viola scattered seven hits and walked two with one strikeout on the mound.
Easthampton 17, Longmeadow 0 (5) – The Eagles scored nine runs in the second inning to earn a shutout win in five innings.
Shortstop Abigail McClaflin smashed a homer and finished with six RBIs on two hits. Megan Fickett finished with three hits and four RBIs and Ana Growhowski, Lauren Morse and Sophia Faginski each posted two hits and two runs.
Pitcher Rosie Follet allowed just one hit, striking out five batters and walking two.
Smith Academy 10, Mahar 6 – Smith Academy pitcher Keighly Gworek stuck out five batters and added two runs and an RBI.
Caitlin Graves had one RBI and one run and Emilia Neves added a hit and a run for the Falcons.
East Longmeadow 14, Northampton 0 – Mattea Hernandez registered Northampton’s lone hit on the road. Blue Devils pitcher Kaliya Valentin struck out seven.
Amherst 9, Belchertown 5 – Jameson Dion put away three goals with two assists for the Hurricanes on Wednesday night. Tre Bowman and Silas Hazen found the net twice each, while Linus Hazen (assist) and Jamie Park scored once each. Tri Guyen added an assist for Amherst.
Belchertown’s Brady Moreau scored twice, while Charlie Fijal, Elias Marques and Vincent Ting contributed a goal each. Rylan Queiros chipped in an assist for the Orioles.
Westfield 20, Belchertown 3 – Sam Pacunas put in two goals, while Paige Magner scored once for the Orioles. Madysel LePage contributed an assist for Belchertown, while Emma Almeida saved two shots.
Hoosac Valley 11, Hampshire 9 – Sam Moran (two ground balls), Dana Warren (two ground balls), Anna Puttick (trhee gorund balls, five forced turnovers and five draw controls), scored two gaols each for the Raiders. Hampshire’s Ryleigh Fennessey picked up three ground balls and scored a goal, while Reese O’Connell and Reagan Mott each found the net once.
Hampshire goalie Abby Hennesey saved six shots.
Chicopee Comp 10, Granby 9 – Kalli White netted a hat trick on the road for the Rams. Ella Laliberte regiestered two goals and two assists, while Ava Elizabeth Loughman and Kelly Lynne Kennedy added a goal and an assist each for Granby. Granby’s Mylin Lalibertye and Mckenna Zumbrowski scored one goal each. Rams goalie Faith Ramos made two saves.
Amherst 17, Chicopee 2 – Francesca Sloan poured in four goals and four assists for the Hurricanes. Amherst’s Kiko Bhowmilk also scored four times, while Talia Sadiq added a goal and an assist. Abi Como (two assists), Jenna Schilling and April Schilling (assist) also scored two goals each for Amherst. Emilia Leutjen and Aliayh Kenned had an assist each for Amherst, while Cedar Conrad made six saves.
